STUDENT NEWS: Deanery-wide dance, Family Honor, Silly Hat Day
· Deanery-wide dance Winter Deanery- wide dance for Junior High students (6th through 8th graders), St. Jude Parish Gym, 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. The cost is $10 per student, which includes a meal, snacks, and dance. Proceeds go to Youth Ministry Scholarship Fund and Haiti. · Family Honor (mark your calendars)--All 8th grade families in the Chattanooga Deanery are invited to participate in the Family Honor Program on March 9 and 10, 2012, which will be held in the PLC at OLPH Parish. The mission of Family Honor is to provide opportunities for parents and children to learn to communicate effectively on important life values, with the special focus on the truth and goodness of human sexuality and the virtue of chastity. It is presented in a fun and interactive format. You will walk away with a new perspective on the big questions, "Who am I?" and "What is life for?" · Silly Hat Day--Thanks to all of the students who donated money on "Silly Hat Day". We raised $450.00 for Amanda's Toy Closed at LeBonheur Children's Hospital. Thank you!

· Applications for the 2012-2013--OLPH School is accepting applications for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year for students in grades Pre-K through 8th. · Open House – OLPH School will have an Open House for prospective Pre-K and Kindergarten students on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. in the School Library and Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. in the Kindergarten Classroom or the Pre-K Classroom. There will be an All School Open House for prospective families in grades Pre-K through 8th Grade on Sunday, March 11, 2012 after the 10:00 A.M. Mass. · ChattiGras - The Chattanooga Area Schools (OLPH, St. Jude and Notre Dame High School) along with area Knights of Columbus and Catholic Churches have combined efforts to sponsor a large city-wide fundraising event to support our Catholic Schools and the Chattanooga Catholic Schools Education Fund. This event will be a city-wide Mardi Gras "Chattanooga Style" on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Ticket cost is $50.00 and includes dinner, silent auction, and the band Right to Party. You can dance the night away! SPORTS: Little Rams Basketball Clinic, OLPH spirit items for sale,
Weight training for football
· Little Rams Basketball Clinic--OLPH Booster Club is sponsoring a basketball skills clinic for 1st through 4th graders of OLPH School and local parishes. The clinic will be held the following Saturday mornings: Feb. 11, 18, 25, and March 3; 8:30 to 9:45 for 1st and 2nd graders, and 10:00 to 11:15 for 3rd and 4th graders. The cost is $45 per student, which covers the four clinics and a t-shirt. Weekly participation is available for $14 per session, with the fee payable that day. Registration forms were sent home with OLPH School students; the form will be available on the school website, www.myolph.com within the next week. Questions may be addressed to the OLPH School Office, 423-622-1481.
· OLPH spirit items for sale--The Booster Club has OLPH spirit items for sale, including water bottles ($3), athletic towels ($7), and ball caps ($12). OLPH t-shirts are also for sale for $10; these t-shirts may be worn to P.E. class. There are a few hoodies for sale ($20) in the following sizes: Adult XL, Adult L, Adult M, and

· Weight training for football players--Coach Josh Sellers and the football coaching staff of Notre Dame High School are offering a program to enhance speed and strength. This carefully monitored program is designed specifically for middle school aged boys/young men. The weight training aspect is geared toward technique. The program will have no cost for OLPH football players (both new and former). All current 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are invited to attend. The program is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 until 6:30, and on Saturdays from 11:00 until 1:00 (meet in the Vallaro Center/Makus Weight Center at Notre Dame High School). The program will continue until the start of spring football. Participants are encouraged to make two of the three sessions per week; however, the coaches are aware and understand that other events may conflict which may cause participants to miss some sessions.
